Pendower Beach- Within the area, A huge sandy beach about 1 mile long the west part of which is Pendower Beach. There is a slipway down to the beach. Pendower is near to the village of Carne, many walkers come to admire the beautiful surrounding country and coastal views. Also near to Pendower is the popular down of St. Mawes. A pretty harbourside village that looks out over the River Fal towards the busy maritime town of Falmouth. The dramatic Cornish coastline around St. Mawes was used as the setting for the popular television series Poldark. A regular ferry service operates from Falmouth's Prince of Wales Pier to St. Mawes. The trip lasts 25 minutes and offers excellent views of some of the areas best landmarks including Pendennis and St. Mawes Castles, Black Rock and St. Anthony Lighthouse. The service runs half hourly in the season.
